UNIVERSITY COMMITTEE ON ACADEMIC GOVERNANCE (UCAG)
DRAFT MINUTES

Thursday, September 16, 2010
Conference Room, Owen Graduate Hall

Present:  H. Hughes, N. Khanna, H. Melakeberhan, T. Tims, J. Wright, J. Youatt

Absent: J. Foss, S. Demlow, M. Reckase, S. Watts

The meeting was called to order at 3:20pm by Jacqueline Wright.

Approval of Agenda:
The agenda for September 16 was approved as distributed.

Approval of Minutes:
The Minutes for April 1, 2010 were approved.

Elections:
UCAG members elected Harold Hughes as Chairperson and Ted Tims as Vice-Chairperson.

Overview of UCAG Activities:
Professor Wright reviewed the activities of UCAG over the Academic Year.

College Bylaw Reviews:
The UCAG Committee was consumed with the numerous revisions of the Bylaws during the past year.  The College Bylaw reviews scheduled for 2009-2010 will be completed this year 2010-11.  The colleges to be reviewed are as follows:

• College of Education
• College of Engineering
• Libraries
• Residential College of Arts & Humanities

The UCAG Committee will identify the set of Bylaws to review when the full membership of UCAG is present.

The UCAG Committee will work on a motion to amend the Bylaws concerning the Athletic Council.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:45pm
